Afterpay Makes A Major Move -
It was only last week that PayPal launched their by now, pay later service, and Apple announced their BNPL offering in partnership with Goldman Sachs. Bad news for Afterpay.
Just as the walls looked like they were closing in on Afterpay, the company announced that they'd be taking the leap into banking in partnership with Westpac! Does this story keep on getting better, and better or what?
The 'Money by Afterpay' app will offer customers a respectable 1% p.a. interest rate on their savings account, with no fees! To open a savings account, customers will need to have an existing or open an Afterpay BNPL account.
Afterpay also claims that their app will help 'customers trust themselves with money management' once it launches in October this year.
